The Agency Workers Regulations (AWR) came in to effect from 1st October 2011 and is a key piece of legislation for UK employers. The AWR extends certain (although not total) equal treatment rights to temporary workers with regard to pay, holiday rights and working conditions once they have completed a 12 week client qualifying period. For many users of temporary staff the AWR have had a minimal effect due to their seasonal or sporadic usage or the existing levels of pay in place. However this is not always the case and it remains essential to work with a trusted recruitment partner who can assist in assessing and monitoring the AWR’s impact.
Wild Recruitment has taken a proactive approach to the AWR and is committed to helping employers gain a full understanding of the Regulations. Our Consultants have undergone in-depth AWR training and, by talking to various companies over the last two years, we have developed a detailed understanding of the AWR’s practical implications. Encouragingly we have found that in most cases companies can achieve AWR compliance and avoid unnecessary on costs and administration time through just a few simple steps.
To help companies assess the AWR’s impact, Wild Recruitment has created a simple AWR Basic Facts sheet as well as an AWR Survey which many of our existing clients have utilised. If you would like a copy of the Survey or we can be of further assistance with your AWR planning please contact Michelle Stewart on 02392 851111.
