We are seeking a reliable and proactive Facilities Assistant to support the smooth running, safety, and maintenance of a school site.

This is a 52‑week position, working a split shift (07:00–13:15 / 16:00–17:45), Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week).

This role is vital in ensuring a clean, safe, and well‑managed environment for staff, pupils, visitors, and the wider community. It requires someone hands‑on, organised, and confident working independently.

Key Responsibilities

• Daily site security, unlocking/locking and acting as a key holder


• Routine maintenance, basic repairs, and grounds support


• Monitoring energy use and maintaining heating/plant equipment


• Managing cleaners and ensuring high standards of cleanliness


• Overseeing contractors and ensuring compliance checks are completed


• Supporting lettings and ensuring facilities are ready for use


• Health & safety checks, risk assessments, and maintaining records

About You

• Skilled in basic maintenance, repairs and site management


• Knowledge of health & safety and site security


• Strong communication and organisational skills


• Physically able to handle equipment and manual tasks


• Reliable, proactive, and able to work independently


• Experience supervising cleaners or contractors


• (Desirable) Experience working on a school site
