Trade Store Manager


Role Summary


You will be responsible for the operation of a busy trade store, providing exceptional customer service. A variety of duties including health & safety, retail management, merchandising, marketing, purchasing and more. You must bring a problem-solving work ethic, suited for a sales-focused dedication to business growth.


Main role / Responsibilities



  • Deliver exceptional customer service throughout the entire customer journey: engagement, up-selling, quoting, lead generation and relationship building.

  • Lead and motivated a small team to achieve gross profit targets.

  • Using your merchandising and retail knowledge, you must ensure the trade counter is stocked and well presented.

  • Oversea cash and card transactions, profit tracking and stock management.

  • Quickly adapt to and effectively utilise NetSuite computer systems.

  • Manage staff effectively, addressing performance issues, conducting appraisals, and providing regular feedback and recognition.

  • Conduct monthly performance reviews with area manager, seeking continuous improvement opportunities.


Knowledge / Skills / Experience



  • Highly motivated to achieve targets and drive team success.

  • Demonstrates outstanding customer service standards.

  • Possesses basic product knowledge of building materials / industry; further training will be provided.

  • Strong IT literacy and literacy skills.

  • Excellent time and team management abilities.

  • Clear communication with a hands-on, lead-by-example management style.

  • Forklift licence and workplace first aid certification preferred but not essential.


Pay / Benefits / Working hours



  • Salary £27-30k

  • Mon-Fri 0630-1630
